Welcome to Pack 81, Austin Texas

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 81.

Our pack meetings are normally held at 6:00 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at Kocurek Elementary.  Pack 81 is part of the Thunderbird District, which belongs to the Capitol Area Council based in Austin, Texas. If you live in Austin, or plan to come to Austin, please contact us from our Contact Page for general comments or information about joining our Pack.

Is that you?? Are you the one we’re looking for??

If you are in kindergarten through the 5th grade and would like to have lots of fun camping, fishing, hiking, going on cool trips (spending a night on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier), building and racing cars, launching rockets, and meeting new friends…then Cub Scout Pack 81 is looking for YOU!

Now is the perfect time for you to sign up for Cub Scouts and have fun all year round!

What is Cub Scouts about?

  • Cub Scouting promotes: self-worth, imagination, self-discipline, team-work, cooperation, importance of family & friends, good citizenship and much, much more.

What kind of things do Cub Scouts do?

  • We go camping 4 times per year where the whole family can go and participate.
  • There are skills that Cub Scouts learn while having fun as well as making new friends, and learning about the world around them. There are many opportunities for the scouts and their families to enjoy the outdoors and each other. You and your child get the chance to experience all kinds of new and adventurous things.

Don’t have camping gear, don’t worry, we can tell you what you need to camp for the first time.

Come and Join in on the FUN!

Raingutter Regatta Sat. 10/12

Posted on Oct 1 2024 - 10:44am

Our Raingutter Regatta will be held Saturday 10/12. If you did not get to pickup a boat kit at the pack meeting please contact claycdavis@gmail.com to get one or if you have any questions. This kit will need to be built prior to race day and can be painted and decorated however your scout likes. I do recommend painting the wood, keeping it lightweight, gluing the sail to the mast so it doesn't rotate and the wood placed narrow side down and shaped to minimize drag. More tips found here. Hope to see everyone at the Regatta!

Popcorn sales starts this weekend, and if we all work together we can finish in 4 weekends. The 1st weekend is the best seller, if we could fill our shifts this weekend we could really jump ahead. Download the Trails End App.  When you create an account, we are in Capital Area Council, Thunderbird District, Pack 81.  There will be an empty square "My Storefront Shifts" click "view shifts" then click the very tiny calendar icon in the upper right corner THAT is where you see blue highlighted days that have available shifts. Contact us if you have questions: dcerkan@yahoo.com (Donna)

Adult training for Campouts

Posted on Sep 15 2024 - 4:05pm

In order for the Pack to go camping, there must be a BALOO trained adult.  If our single BALOO trained adult falls ill or has an emergency, the whole campout gets canceled.  The only solution is to have multiple BALOO trained adult. The trainings are VERY rarely offered, so it would be great if someone took the leap:  https://www.bsacac.org/training/adult/mega-training
